PLATANUS OCCIDENTALIS

The Sycamore is a huge tree spanning 75-90′; both tall and wide with a pyramidal crown- one of the largest hardwood trees in diameter! The bark appears to have layers with a dark brown color on the outside and a lighter color inward. In the spring, small flowers cluster along the branches along with tiny, winged seeds. Due to its size, plant this tree in an area where there’;s plenty of room to grow such as in a parking lot, highway median, or large yard. This American classic has a rapid growth rate and is tolerant of wet and compact soil.
